TITLE
Request to vacate a positions on City Boards and Commissions.
ISSUE: Request to vacate a positions on the Alexandria Gang Prevention Community Task Force and Sister Cities Commission.
RECOMMENDATION: That City Council vacates positions on the Alexandria Gang Prevention Community Task Force for a member from and representing the parents of the youth and of the City of Alexandria and a position on the Sister Cities Committee for a citizen member due to lack of attendance and request that the Executive Secretary for Boards and Commissions re-advertise the positions as vacancies.
BACKGROUND: Members of boards, commissions and committees are required to attend at least 75% of the scheduled meetings of the body. Failure to meet the requirement can lead to recommendations to vacate the position and readvertise it as a vacancy. The staff liaisons for the Task Force and the Sister Cities Committee have requested removal of the member for failure to attend the required amount of meetings. The following members have not attended at least 75% of the meetings since being appointed: Shanelle Gayden and Rashmi Pappu
