ISSUE:  Consideration to Authorize the City to Receive a Donation from the Historic Alexandria Foundation.

RECOMMENDATION:  That City Council authorize the City to receive a donation from the Historic Alexandria Foundation.

BACKGROUND:  On July 11, 2022 the Board of Trustees of Historic Alexandria Foundation unanimously approved funding an historic structures report for the Murray-Dick-Fawcett House, not to exceed $100,000, located at 517 Prince Street in the Old and Historic District of Alexandria.

DISCUSSION:  This report will provide documentary, graphic, and physical information about the property’s history and existing condition. The report serves as an important guide for all changes made during the planned restoration and can also provide information for maintenance procedures.

The Historic Alexandria Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) organization established in 1954 to preserve, protect and restore structures of historic and architectural interest in and associated with the City of Alexandria, Virginia; to preserve antiquities and generally to foster and promote interest in Alexandria's heritage.

FISCAL IMPACT:  The Historic Alexandria Foundation will fund the project, not to exceed $100,000.
