Race and Social Equity Officer Introduction and Update.

ISSUE: Race and social equity efforts for the City of Alexandria.
RECOMMENDATION: That City Council direct staff to begin a public engagement process to gain community feedback and input on a resolution on race and social equity to be formally adopted at the conclusion of the engagement period.
BACKGROUND: Formal introduction of the City’s new Race and Social Equity Officer (RSEO), Jaqueline Tucker who began her work with the City on February 10, 2020. An opportunity for City Council and the community to meet, hear from and learn more about
Ms. Tucker. The RSEO will provide a recap of the City’s participation in the Washington Metropolitan Council of Governments and Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARE) inaugural multi-jurisdictional cohort and also will discuss the work-to-date of the City in building an infrastructure to launch, All Alexandria City’s commitment to race and social equity.
