ISSUEConsideration of a request to codify the ordinance reference in Section 3-2-189.

RECOMMENDATIONThat City Council hold a public hearing, second reading and consider for final passage the proposed ordinance on  October 19, 2019.

BACKGROUNDThe City Council action to amend the boundaries of the Potomac Yard Metrorail Station Special Services District requires an amendment to Section 3-2-189 of the City Code to change the authorizing ordinance reference.  This action authorizes that consistency.

FISCAL IMPACTThere is no significant fiscal impact from this action.  It clarifies the established boundaries of the Tier I Potomac Yard Special Services Tax District.  It should be noted that in its current form, the northern section of parcel 506 generates $24,000 of revenue from the $0.20 Tax Tier I special assessment.  Based on the development decision associated with parcel 506, if the approved but yet-to-be-constructed 138 condominiums are removed from   Tax Tier I, tax revenue of $91,000 would not be generated.
