MEMORANDUM

DATE:                     APRIL 26, 2019

TO:                                          THE HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF CITY COUNCIL

FROM:                     MARK B. JINKS, CITY MANAGER   /s/

DOCKET TITLE:

TITLE

Consideration of a Resolution to Increase the Motor Coach Fee for FY 2020. [ROLL-CALL VOTE]

BODY

_________________________________________________________________

ISSUE:  Resolution to increase the motor coach fee.

RECOMMENDATION:  That the City Council adopt the Resolution (Attachment) as part of the FY 2020 Approved Budget. The new fees will be effective July 1, 2019.

DISCUSSION:  The City currently administers a motor coach reservation system that allows people to purchase permits to park their buses at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial.  Under the existing system, the City receives $8 of the $40 collected for overnight permits and no revenue from the $15 daily permit. This currently amounts to approximately $9,000 annually in City revenues. Under this proposal, the City would increase the City portion of the fees for daily and overnight permits each by $5, yielding an additional $6,000 in on-going General Fund revenues.

FISCAL IMPACT:  Increasing the fees for motor coach permits will generate an additional $6,000 in General Fund revenue in FY 2020.
