Consideration of City Council Schedule.

ISSUE: City Council Schedule
RECOMMENDATION: That City Council:
1. Receive the following updates and changes to the City Council Schedule (Attachment):
• The Annual Citizenship Day Ceremony, which is scheduled for Friday, September 16 at 2 p.m. on Market Square;
• The Pat Miller Neighborhood Square Dedication, which is scheduled for Saturday, October 1 at 2 p.m. at 2311 Mt. Vernon Avenue. The event will be held during the Art on the Avenue Event;
• The Annual City Council Retreat which is scheduled for Saturday, November 5 at 9:30 a.m. The location will be determined at a later date;
• Moving the Tuesday, November 8 City Council meeting to Wednesday, November 9 due to the Presidential Election;
• Moving the Tuesday, November 22 Legislative Meeting to November 29 to avoid a holiday week meeting;
• The addition of the FY 2018 Proposed Budget Presentation, various Budget Work Sessions and Special Budget Meetings (Red) from February 2017 into May 2017;
• The reservation for an extra City Council Legislative meeting on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, so that there could be as many as three Legislative meetings in June;
• Moving the Saturday, June 17 Public Hearing to Saturday, June 24 in order to avoid a date conflict with the T.C. Williams High School Graduation Ceremony; and
2. Approve the Council Schedule.
DISCUSSION: The City Council Schedule for FY 2017 has been adjusted and pre-populated with several meetings in order to better accommodate the changing schedules of the Mayor and City Council.
