Consideration of the Receipt of the Braddock Metro Neighborhood Plan Status of Implementation Report.

ISSUE:    Summary of the 2008 Braddock Metro Neighborhood Plan and Braddock East Master Plan implementation activities from July 2014 - June 2015.
 
RECOMMENDATION:    That City Council receives the attached FY2015 Status of Implementation Report (Attachment 1).
 
BACKGROUND:    The attached FY2015 Status of Implementation Report highlights the activities, on the part of the staff, the Braddock Implementation Advisory Group, and the community, to realize the vision of the 2008 Braddock Metro Neighborhood Plan and Braddock East Master Plan. It details the efforts of the past implementation period of July 2014 - June 2015.
 
DISCUSSION: The report details the implementation activities over the last 12 months which includes:
 
·      Completion of the demolition of the existing buildings at 600 N. Henry Street
·      Completion of the construction of the Braddock Interim Open Space at 600 N. Henry   
   Street.
·      Selection of consultant and initiation of design of the future 1 Acre Braddock Park (at  
    600 block of North Henry Street)
·      Prioritization of streetscape improvement projects by the Advisory Group, focusing on a two-block area of Fayette Street.
·      Monitor Development projects
o      Retail space occupation
§      Bastille Restaurant (The Asher)
§      Lost Dog Café (Belle Pre)
§      Sugar Shack (Belle Pre)
§      Mason Social (728 N. Henry)
§      The Henry - fully leased retail
o      Old Town Commons, 918 N. Columbus Street, 998 N. Alfred Street - construction complete
o      The Bradley (formerly Braddock Metro Place), 1261 Madison Street - construction complete
o      Jefferson-Houston School, 1501 Cameron Street - construction complete
o      Durant Center Improvements & Playgrounds, 1605 Cameron Street - construction nearing completion
·       Implementation Advisory Group & Community Engagement
o      Three Advisory Group Meetings (October 6, 2014, January 20, 2015, May 11, 2015)
o      Neighborhood Park Planning process meeting (May 30, 2015)
o      City Council adopted resolution increasing Advisory Group members to 22, adding two representatives from the Braddock Metro Citizens Coalition
o      Five new members joined the Advisory Group to fill existing and new vacancies.
FISCAL IMPACT:    Fiscal impacts include the approved and allocated expenditures for the construction of the Braddock Interim Open Space, the consultant for the design of the 1-Acre Braddock Park, the FY2016 Capital Improvement Program allocation for streetscape improvements to Fayette Street, and staff resources.
