Consideration of Adoption of a Resolution for the Complete Streets Reenactment. [ROLL-CALL VOTE]

ISSUE: Reenactment of the Complete Streets Policy.
RECOMMENDATION: That City Council adopt the resolution (Attachment 1).
BACKGROUND: An update on the Complete Streets Program was received by City Council on May 13, 2014. At this session, City Council requested that the Traffic and Parking Board recommendations from their April 28, 2014 meeting to be included in the Complete Streets Policy before reenactment. The recommendations of the Traffic and Parking Board are detailed in Attachment 2, and include the following:
· City Staff evaluate the effect of a Complete Streets project on the neighborhoods undergoing changes to assure any impacts are minimized.
· City Staff undertake an appropriate evaluation process.
· City Staff coordinate with the Alexandria Police and Fire Departments on any Complete Street project; and,
· Update the Traffic and Parking Board every two years and provide a public venue for input.
DISCUSSION: The proposed resolution includes the recommendations made by the Traffic and Parking Board and can be viewed in Attachment 1.
