Introduction and First Reading. Consideration. Passage on First Reading of an Ordinance to amend and reordain Section 2-4-180 (CREATION, COMPOSITION AND ORGANIZATION) of Article W (ALEXANDRIA GANG PREVENTION COMMUNITY TASK FORCE) of Chapter 4 (COMMITTEES, BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS) of Title 2 (GENERAL GOVERNMENT) of the Code of the City of Alexandria, Virginia, 1981, as amended.

ISSUE: Consideration of an ordinance to amend the qualifications for membership on the Alexandria Gang Prevention Community Task Force to align with changes to the name of a representative entity.
RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approve the proposed ordinance (Attachment 2) on first reading on May 9, 2023 and schedule it for second reading and public hearing and final passage on Saturday, May 13, 2023.
DISCUSSION: The Alexandria Gang Prevention Community Task Force, pursuant to City Code Section 2-4-180, is comprised of 17 members appointed by city council, including "one member from and representing T.C. Williams High School" and "one member from and representing private schools in Alexandria."
In 2021, the name of T.C. Williams High School was changed to Alexandria City High School. The proposed ordinance removes the name "T.C. Williams" from City Code Section 2-4-180(b)(4) and amends the section to "one member from and representing Alexandria City High School", thus reflecting the school's current name.
