Consideration of a Resolution Authorizing the City to Accept a Donation from ALX Dog Walk Alexandria to the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities. [ROLL-CALL VOTE]

ISSUE:  Consideration of a proposed donation from ALX Dog Walk Alexandria to facilitate the planting of 21 trees and the restoration of the original water garden at King Street Gardens Park.

 

RECOMMENDATION:  That City Council approve a resolution (Attachment 1) authorizing the City to accept a one-time monetary donation of up to $25,250 from ALX Dog Walk Alexandria to the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities. 

 

DISCUSSION:  Upon receipt of the donation from the ALX Dog Walk Alexandria (Attachment 2), the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities will use the funds to:

 

1.                     Planting of 21 trees at S. Reynolds St. and Edsall Rd. during the City’s planting season in Spring 2023; and

 

2.                     The restoration of the original water garden and corresponding educational signage at King Street Gardens Park.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:  Up to $25,250 donation to the City of Alexandria.
