Consideration of the Receipt of the Arlandria Action Plan Status of Implementation Report.

ISSUE: Summary of 2003 Arlandria Action Plan implementation activities from January 2014 - June 2015.
RECOMMENDATION: That City Council receive the attached FY2015 Status of Implementation Report (Attachment).
BACKGROUND: The attached FY2015 Status of Implementation Report highlights the activities to realize the vision of the 2003 Arlandria Action Plan. It provides a summary of the efforts over the past implementation period of January 2014 - June 2015.
DISCUSSION: The report provides a summary of the implementation activities over the last 18 months including:
· Additional phases of the Four Mile Run Park Expansion Project
· Park Planning for Hume Springs Park and 3550 Commonwealth Park
· Commonwealth Avenue/W. Reed Avenue Safe Routes to School Project
· Installation of additional bicycle parking
· New pedestrian crossing at W. Glebe Road and Florence Drive
· Install two Bus Shelters on Mt. Vernon Avenue/Executive Avenue Mt. Vernon Avenue/W. Glebe Road
· Monitor Development projects
o Mt. Vernon Village Center, 3809-3839 Mt. Vernon Avenue - Approved for 3 year extension by City Council in May 2015
o Four Mile Run Pump Station Improvements, 3650 Commonwealth Avenue - under construction
o Jackson Crossing, 3600 Jefferson Davis Highway - under construction
o DelRay Tower, 3110 Mt. Vernon Avenue - construction complete
o Lynhaven Apartments, 3521 Commonwealth Avenue - rehabilitation underway
o Community Lodgings, 607 Notabene Drive - rehabilitation pending
· Community Engagement & Community-Led Quality-of-Life Projects
o Four Mile Run Park Farmers & Artisans Market - Season 2014 & 2015
o Third Annual DiverseCity Alexandria Multicultural Festival
o Tree planting in Four Mile Run Park supported by crowd-funding dollars, Four Mile Run Farmers and Artisans Market, Action Alexandria, and City matching funds
o Hosted 57 events at the Conservatory Center at Four Mile Run Park Building
· Annual Quality of Life Walk (July 18, 2014)
· Two Advisory Group Meetings (April 23, 2014 & November 17, 2015)
· Three Arlandria Newsletters (July 2014, November 2014, April 2015)
· RPCA issues RFP for Non-Profit Management Lease for Conservatory Center (4109 Mt. Vernon Ave)
· Four Mile Run Stream Restoration Project construction commences
FISCAL IMPACT: Fiscal impacts are currently related to capital projects approved in the FY2016 Capital Improvement Program and staff resources.
